How many milliliters of filler do I need?
For cheek augmentation, clinics use different types of number of milliliters. Where some are already satisfied with 2 ml, others are not satisfied until 4 ml. Often doctors take a constructive approach and start at 1 or 2 ml. Every face is different and every person wants to achieve different results. How long does it take to see results after treatment?
After the treatment, you will see results almost immediately. The treated areas may look somewhat swollen and blue at first. This is a normal skin reaction and goes away within a few hours to a few days. Because of the swelling of the skin, many people are startled by the initial ”sharp” result. Don’t worry: the swelling gradually decreases and the final result is visible after about 14 days.
How long do cheekbone fillers last?
The result of a filler treatment is not permanent but always temporary. How long the fillers will ultimately last is not entirely accurate. For example, it depends on the number of milliliters set, your type of skin texture and how fast your metabolism is. After the treatment, the final result is visible after 14 days and from that point your body begins to break down the substance very slowly again. The result remains visible for about 8 to 12 months. Should you be satisfied with the result, it is possible to repeat the treatment.
Aftercare of cheekbone fillers
To ensure optimal results and minimize risks, it is important to consider the following aftercare points:
- Do not drink alcohol for the first 48 hours. Alcohol has a blood-thinning effect and this carries risks.
- Do not smoke for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid UV light, sunlight, tanning beds and saunas for 14 days.
- Do not use cream or makeup for the first hour.
- Avoid pressure on the face for the first few days.
Should serious complications such as inflammation occur, always contact your doctor immediately!
Risks of cheekbone fillers
Are there any risks associated with placing fillers? Yes, there are. The treatment is never without risks and the doctor will inform you well about this beforehand. When you perform the treatment with an experienced doctor, however, the risks are often minimal. The most common risks are:
- Not the desired result
- Becoming visible from the filler
- The appearance of hard bumps in the treated area
- Allergic reaction
Should these complications arise, the fillers are easy to remove. Hyaluronidase is used for this purpose. This substance causes hyaluronic acid to break down at an accelerated rate.
Does the treatment hurt?
Cheek plumping treatment takes only 20 to 30 minutes and generally does not hurt. If you are prick-sensitive, the doctor often applies a numbing cream to the cheekbones. The cream makes your skin less sensitive, making the stings almost imperceptible. After treatment, the treated areas may be irritated for a few days. This will pass by itself.
