Like muscle relaxants, treatment with Fillers also falls under the collective name of injectables. While muscle relaxants allow muscles to relax, causing wrinkles and lines to recede, a Filler actually restores the skin’s natural volume. With Fillers, we can fill in deep wrinkles to make them less noticeable or restore natural volume to revive youthful facial contours. The most well-known Fillers on the market work on the basis of Hyaluronic Acid. A substance that already occurs naturally in our bodies and is biodegradable. So our body eventually dissolves it on its own, making it safe to use.
Applications and operation of Fillers
In the cosmetic industry, Fillers are primarily used to restore natural volume loss in the face or to fill in deeper wrinkles. We restore volume to achieve desired facial contours and fill in deep wrinkles for a youthful and fresh look. As we age, our skin increasingly loses its suppleness, flexibility and ability to retain moisture, which can make it feel saggy and cause loss of volume. This is where Hyaluronic Acid comes in handy. It is a substance that already occurs naturally in several places in our bodies. Hyaluronic acid’s greatest power is to bind large amounts of moisture, allowing it to perform two important skin functions “hydration and volume.”
What does a Filler treatment look like?
1: Free intake interview
During an intake interview, you will have the opportunity to meet with one of our physicians. You tell what you come for and what you want to achieve with treatment. After assessing the area(s) to be treated and your overall health, our expert physician will advise you what is best for your situation. Everything regarding treatment and costs will be discussed with you. If you are convinced you can choose to be treated immediately and otherwise you can schedule a follow-up appointment. If you already know in advance that you would like to undergo treatment choose the consultation + treatment option during the online appointment booking process.
2: Formality: photos and forms
You have chosen to receive treatment at Oran Aesthetics. Several photos are always taken beforehand. In addition, you will be given two digital forms to sign. The first is a “health statement” about your health to determine your suitability for treatment and the second is a “consent form.” This is a form with information about the particular Filler treatment including possible side effects and complications.
3: The treatment itself
After the doctor has properly informed you about the treatment, she (or he) always begins by cleaning and disinfecting the area. A filler treatment falls under injectables, meaning that the liquid is administered by injection. Depending on the area to be treated, a cannula may also be used. A filler treatment usually takes between 15-30 minutes depending on the number of areas to be treated.
4: Immediately after treatment
Immediately after treatment, the doctor will give you a special ice pack that you should use to cool the treated area for 15 minutes. A possible side effect of filler treatment may be redness, swelling and bruising in the first few days after treatment. This will go away by itself. Furthermore, we recommend that you do not use cream or makeup for the first hour after treatment. Avoid massages or other kind of pressure on your face for the first few days. And even with a filler treatment, you should not use the sauna or tanning bed for a week. The result of the treatment is immediately visible.
5: Monitoring appointment
Two weeks after treatment, you may come in for a checkup so the doctor can assess the result and answer any questions you may have. Post-photos are also taken and can be compared with the photos taken before the treatment.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that already occurs naturally in your body and is biodegradable. Thus, it disappears from your body by itself several months after treatment. In filler treatment, this substance is injected under your skin in a very dilute form and therefore poses no risk to your health. Moreover, the Fillers we use are A-brands of the highest quality that have proven themselves in cosmetic medicine for years. Every year, our expert doctors perform thousands of treatments with Fillers and so far (except for some minor swelling and redness which is normal) we have not recorded any serious complications.
A correctly performed filler treatment provides a naturally healthy appearance. The contours of your face stand out better and your skin starts looking healthy, hydrated and fit. Volume is created where you are lacking and wrinkles are filled in so that they become invisible. Here’s the secret to looking 10 years younger. Of course, the results of filler treatment are also temporary. The natural substance Hyaluronic Acid will gradually be broken down and disposed of by your own body after a period of 9-12 months. If you want to maintain the effect, a new treatment is needed.
