During the intake interview, the doctor will assess whether PRP treatment is right for you or whether there are better alternatives, depending on the cause and type of hair loss. If you qualify for PRP, it offers an effective solution to your hair loss. The doctor will explain the treatment and what to expect. During the PRP treatment itself, a small amount of blood is first drawn, similar to a standard blood test. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other blood cells. The resulting concentrated platelet-rich plasma is then injected with a thin needle at specific points in the scalp to stimulate hair growth.
Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is a concentrated serum obtained from your own blood. This serum is full of growth factors and healing proteins that your body naturally produces. When injected into your scalp, this serum can stimulate the growth of new hair follicles and strengthen existing ones, leading to thicker and healthier hair.
PRP hair loss treatment can be effective for both men and women dealing with hair loss, thinning hair or alopecia areata, a condition that causes hair loss. It is also suitable for those who want to keep their hair healthy and strong. However, people with severe forms of alopecia, such as alopecia universalis, or those with other medical conditions that cause hair loss may not be able to benefit from this treatment.
It is recommended to stay well hydrated, not drink alcohol the day before treatment and on the day of treatment wash the scalp with the Scalpfit shampoo, for example.
Although PRP treatment may cause mild discomfort at the injection sites, the procedure is generally well tolerated.
The most common side effects of PRP treatment for hair loss are mild and temporary, such as redness or sensitivity at the injection sites. There is minimal risk of allergic reactions or infections because PRP is made from your own blood.
A PRP treatment for hair loss takes about 30 to 40 minutes on average, including preparation time and aftercare.
The frequency of PRP treatment may vary, but in general, we recommend an initial series of 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. After that, maintenance treatments can be performed every 6-12 months.
The full effects of PRP treatment against hair loss are usually visible after a few months. This is because PRP stimulates the natural hair growth cycle, which takes time to work.
Although PRP treatment can stimulate hair growth and improve hair thickness, it is not a permanent solution to hair loss. Regular treatments are recommended to maintain results.
PRP treatments are not applied if there are blood and platelet disorders, chronic liver disease, the presence of active (skin) infections, (skin) cancer, cardiovascular or hemodynamic instability and/or the use of anticoagulant medication.

Yes, after PRP treatment for hair loss, you can resume your normal activities immediately.

Yes, PRP against hair loss can be safely combined with hair transplant, XL Hair and other hair loss treatments such as minoxidil or finasteride.

PRP and XL Hair are both treatments aimed at promoting hair growth, but they work in different ways. PRP uses your own platelets to stimulate hair follicles and promote hair growth. XL Hair, on the other hand, is a concentrated serum that contains a range of active ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid and biorevitalization fluid, and it nourishes and reactivates the hair follicles.

Although PRP and XL Hair can be administered in the same session, it is usually recommended that they be done in separate sessions to maximize the effectiveness of each treatment. It is important to follow your health care provider’s instructions on when and how often each treatment should be performed. Generally, XL Hair treatment is administered first, followed by PRP at intervals of a few weeks.

Results

The majority of patients experience significant improvements in the density, strength and overall health of their hair after a series of PRP treatments. Results are not immediate; it usually takes several months to see the full effects of treatment. This is because the PRP process stimulates the natural hair growth cycle, which takes time. PRP treatment for hair loss can significantly improve your quality of life. While not a panacea, it can be an important tool in your fight against hair loss.
