SkinPen

SkinPen is a form of micro-needling equipped with 14 sterile needles. These needles create 1600 microchannels per second in the skin, which activate natural wound healing and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in improved skin condition.

A SkinPen treatment is a structured process. Your doctor will go over the course of treatment with you. After the preliminary photos are taken and the necessary forms are signed, treatment can begin. Your skin is cleansed. A thin layer of Skinfuse Lift HG is then applied. This gel allows the SkinPen to move smoothly over the skin without friction or chafing. During the procedure, patients feel a vibrating tingle on the skin. Afterwards, you will be given the Skinfuse Lift HG and Skinfuse RESCUE and go through aftercare instructions with the doctor (read below).

A standard SkinPen treatment usually takes between 45-60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

Yes, SkinPen treatments can often be safely combined with other aesthetic treatments such as botox and fillers. However, it is advised to wait at least two weeks after a SkinPen treatment before undergoing injectable treatment.

After treatment, the skin will look evenly red and feel warm/prickly. This redness generally disappears within 24 hours, depending on the intensity of the treatment. The days after treatment the skin may flake or itch slightly – this is a sign that the skin is renewing, do not scratch the treated skin. In rare cases, hypo – hyperpigmentation or vesicles may occur. These effects should disappear within a few days. As your skin heals, you will gradually see improvements in texture and appearance.

Although results vary from person to person, most people see improvements after their first treatment. The number of treatments required depends on your specific skin condition and your treatment goals. It is generally recommended to undergo a series of three to six treatments, with intervals of four to six weeks between each treatment.

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours before applying makeup after a SkinPen treatment.

Although the SkinPen treatment is safe and effective for a wide range of skin types and conditions, there are some situations in which it is not recommended to perform a treatment. These include:

• Active skin infections or diseases: including herpes outbreaks, warts, fungal infections or impetigo.
• Active acne: micro-needling can lead to further irritation or the spread of bacteria.
• Open wounds or cuts.
• Skin conditions: such as psoriasis and eczema.
• Skin cancer and chemotherapy: these can affect the skin’s healing abilities.
• Pregnancy or lactation: hormonal changes may affect the skin’s response to treatment.
• When using roaccutane, retinol (see also preparation), hydrocortisone.
• Sunburn.
• Elevated birthmarks (localized).
• Autoimmune diseases.

For best results, we recommend stopping the use of skin care products containing active ingredients three days before the SkinPen treatment. These can include retinol (vitamin A), vitamin C, arbutin, glycolic acid, salicylic acid and lactic acid. Keep in mind that your skin may be sensitive to the sun after treatment. For this reason, coming to your appointment by car is ideal to reduce direct sun exposure. It is also important not to wear makeup on the day of treatment. This ensures clean skin ready for treatment and reduces the risk of irritation or infection after the procedure. If you are known to have a cold sore or impetigo, notify your doctor in a timely manner.

Aftercare instructions after a SkinPen treatment are as follows:

• For the first 24 hours after treatment, only the product SKINFUSE LIFT (white tube) should be applied to the skin 2-4 times a day. In the first 24 hours, apply NOTHING else to your skin, including NO makeup or sun product.
• After 24 hours, you may clean the skin with a mild cleanser and should apply SKINFUSE RESCUE (white tube with blue stripe) 2-4 times a day.
• After 24 hours, you may apply a sun product with at least SPF 30 (every 2 hours) and makeup.
• For 72 hours after treatment, avoid sunlight/sunbed, intense exercise, swimming, public shower facilities, sauna, hot showers or baths.
• After 5-7 days, you may return to your usual skin care. In consultation with your specialist, you can use skin care products that complement treatment and optimize results.
• For 4 weeks after treatment, protect your skin from sunlight, including behind glass, with a sunscreen product with at least factor SPF 30.
